Plan a Party in 48 Hours!
My oldest and I had tossed around a couple of ideas before the school year ended with what to do for her birthday party. She really wanted to host a slumber party this year for her 11th birthday. It’s always a little tough for her and classmates since her birthday falls smack dab in the middle of summer break on July 1st. So if I typically want to include any friends from school then I need to let them know before school let’s out or what we end up doing is only including family. This year we have lucked out and her closest friends/classmates live nearby all but one. Although the timing with other summer activities and events was completely off with camp, vacations and a couple other plans that I didn’t know quite where we would a slumber party in. Well as it happened the planets shifted and aligned in her favor and last Wednesday we realized she would be able to host a small slumber party for Friday night…wait…what? Friday? Yes, Friday…48 hours to plan good clean entertaining fun for all night…all I can say is THANK GOD HE HELPED CREATE PINTEREST!
The parents were called and everyone was available so we are good to go!
So straight to Pinterest I went trying to figure out what to do and what exactly one should be doing for a tween slumber party. Luckily there were a lot of fun ideas! We couldn’t use them all but we did borrow and even enhanced a couple so here’s how to knock it out of the park with little time to spare literally right down to blowing up balloons as the doorbell rang and our first guest arrived!
First things first what to eat…PIZZA…easy peazy…especially when you recruit the help of Papa Murphy. They have The Mini Murph® a mini do-it-yourself kits. The kit comes complete with dough, sauce, cheese and pepperoni I ordered online and arranged a pick-up time. https://www.papamurphys.com/menu
I did add a couple extra goodies to our pizza making part of the evening including Canadian bacon, pineapple and I bought olives but forgot to set them out, oops. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
After that everyone went outside to play including the little guys who I bought new bubbles for I made sure to buy a 6 pack and good thing just as I suspected within about 2.4 seconds the first two bottles contents were puddled on the ground. That’s ok there’s more!
Next on to the theme, games and a couple other details. And of course to go shopping and cleaning and dun dun dun make my lovely tween clean her room as part of the conditions of said party…of course I know where all that stuff miraculously disappeared to, I supposed her mission will be cleaning her closet this week.
Our favorite game we found which started the spiral of our theme was one Emoji Bingo from http://catchmyparty.com/blog/free-printable-emoji-bingo-game this game was so cute, and the printable was free to print. I glued them on construction paper to make them a bit heavier and plus if my little guys got a hold of them less destructible. We used M&M’s as our markers made for a fun treat after each win or lose.
After that we played Bean Boozled a Jelly Belly Game and if you’ve never played this game it’s pretty fun this was a special request from my daughter and honestly the hardest part of the party. Please make sure you read all the words when you are searching for something online like “Only Sold Online” before you drive to said store and look around aimlessly. Third store did happen to have it on their shelves stocked and ready to sell to me though!! YAY! http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/jelly-belly-beanboozled-spinner-jelly-bean-gift-box
I picked two other games that are tween approved by this mommie and created by the Mom of 6 – “Truth or Dare” and “Would You Rather” found at http://momof6.com/at-home-birthday-parties/50-would-you-rather-questions-for-tweens/#_a5y_p=4857043
We made a fun photobooth complete with emoji faces where I found the mask idea here http://diyready.com/19-cool-diy-photo-booth-props/ and then bought other props at the dollar store, Super Easy!
And what night wouldn’t be complete without a make your own sundae bar, Yummy Yummy!
Of course the girls stayed up late giggling having a good time, doing hair and what not, so of course cinnamon rolls and donuts are in order store-bought is a.o.k
All in all I’m going to say the party was a success Lauren had a great time! She was happy they were entertained and I am happy to report I got to eat the pear flavored jelly bean and was not stuck eating the booger one!
