5 Fun Faves for Kids in North Houston
If you’ve ever visited Houston you will understand that just like Texas everything is BIG just like our fair city! So sometimes fitting in a fun activity before nap time can be well let’s just say a bit challenging, before Mr. Dean goes into full on meltdown mode. So I like to stay close to the house or I might just end up finding him face down on the exit mat at the local Whataburger kicking his feet while we try to get in a quick bite while other patrons are rolling their eyes in disdain. That fun stuff happened just yesterday in fact. Yay Happy Father’s Day! Although before that we did enjoy the B-17 show at Hooks Airport with Dad and my brother’s family. Really neat to see such a unique piece of American history. Check out their website if you’re up for a drive they will be scheduling flights out of College Station next, or you can just check out this bird. https://b17texasraiders.org/
So back to why you came here are a couple of my favorite places to go north of FM 1960 in the Houston area, but I did pick all over East to West so enjoy! You will not be able to do these in one day but if you can do it, take pics and send me the evidence!
Old MacDonald Farm: This place has a bit of everything, a train ride, petting zoo, big sand piles to play in, a swimming pool in the summer, playground, pony rides and a pumpkin patch during the fall. I took the kids here recently and they enjoyed feeding the animals immensely I’m uploading a video for your viewing pleasure. Please don’t show the staff, and if somebody from Old MacDonald’s Farm see’s the video I am so sorry. http://oldmacdonaldshumble.com/
Conroe Aquatic Center: This place is like a mini water theme park so the little guys adore it, complete with slides, water buckets, walk in beach access at a fraction of the price and super close to my home! This scores major bonus points in my book! http://www.cityofconroe.org/departments/parks-recreation/facilities-centers/conroe-aquatic-center
Shanks Indoor Blacklight Miniature Golf: Looking to beat the heat or on those rainy days this is a fun place to be the place is great entertainment for my group since there is such a big age gap. The little guys get to take part and can keep their putters after playing, how cute is that? http://shankzgolf.com/
Bouncin Bears of Texas: This is another indoor fun place where even mommie can have fun on the extra-large bouncing pillow! I LOVE the pillow…don’t tell the kids though they may not bring me back! Although the other inflatables win their hearts over so I may stand a chance. We have been to several birthday parties here to and always a good time. http://bouncinbearstexas.com/
Jerry Matheson Park: I completely agree with the linked blog post from Big Kid Small City, this has been one of my favorite hidden parks from when I lived in Tomball when Lauren was a little kid. I adore this fun place with it’s vast playland of fun and the fact that it’s never overcrowded is sweet. If you can find it you are in for a real treat if not then all the more joy for us that know of its secret joy! http://www.bigkidsmallcity.com/2016/01/jerry-matheson-park-in-tomball-visiting-houston-area-parks-one-week-at-a-time/
